Holiday Air Gives Flat Style

WITH only low-lying bush between it and the beach, this Caves Beach apartment has proven a popular holiday letting since owner Jason Curry moved out last year.

Mr Curry built the block of four with brother Mark and his wife Debbie 31/2years ago, and lived in the rear, beachfront one as a bachelor pad until he was no longer a bachelor.

Listing agent Shanti Page said it had returned $1300 a week through summer as a holiday letting, popular because it was only a short stroll through the scrub to Ham's and Frenchman's beaches.

It's a house away from the designated path, but bush tracks allow even quicker access.

The apartment is on the top level at the rear, accessed through the common foyer of the unobtrusive grey-green rendered building with gentle Colorbond curves.

From the front door stairs rise up to the apartment level, and these, like most of the floors, are carpeted in sand-coloured sisal.

A rattan strip on the stairs and hallway runner give an instant holiday feel, reflected in the simple white colour scheme.

The exterior curves are echoed in interior design, in door mouldings and bathroom decor.

The two bedrooms and bathroom run off the central hall, with the laundry tucked away in what looks like a linen press. It holds a combined washer-drier, tub and storage and hanging space.

The bathroom is white with charcoal tiles underfoot and charcoal pebble features in the semi-frameless shower and above the double basin vanity.

The open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining at the rear make the most of the view, which offers a hint of beach above the scrub.

It opens through glass sliders onto a generous balcony with charcoal stamped concrete underfoot. A wood-burning heater suggests it's as well used in winter as in summer and glass panels at either end give privacy.

The kitchen combines white polyurethane and black marble. Blanco stainless steel appliances, including an integrated dishwasher and separate oven and grill, unite with a walk-in pantry and breakfast bench.

The lounge room has a study recessed into storage cupboards.

The apartment has video intercom and a split-system air-conditioner. Furniture can be negotiated in the sale.
