THIS chateau-style house with Art Deco influences reflects the talents of its owners, Alana and Greg Kelly.
She is co-owner of New Lambton homeware store Style on Regent and half of home makeover team The Style Fairies, and he runs G&C Bathroom Makeovers. The 1950s house they bought five years ago has been made over with strong colours and French decor, and boasts one of the most charming bathrooms you'll see.On a huge block terraced into three levels, it has views to Newcastle Cathedral and Merewether beach from the front and Mount Sugarloaf from the rear. The house has living spaces on the lower level and bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs.Visitors enter a foyer of charcoal and white tiles that leads through to the kitchen at the rear.To the right is the lounge room, painted mustard yellow like the foyer and with an antique French timber mantelpiece. This leads through to a dining room, painted in deep red and with a split-system air-conditioner.Cornices reflect a Deco revival and timber windows are dressed with white plantation shutters. The kitchen is an uncluttered space of terracotta-toned Laminex benchtops and cream cabinetry with french provincial knobs in turned stainless steel. This leads to a family room/study with timber floating floor at the rear of the house, and outside to a deck overlooking the leafy grounds.Mature trees grow next to and through the deck, which overlooks a level of lawn and then the in-ground pool below. The laundry and extra toilet tuck underneath the house.Up timber stairs with wrought iron rail are the bedrooms and bathrooms, running off a central landing.A timber-lined ensuite is off the smallest bedroom, cut into the roof space in attic-style. It also has a small walk-in wardrobe. Two bedrooms are large, with built-ins, and the fourth has built-in cupboards and shelving. The two-year-old bathroom is lined with Travertine tiles and has a semi-frameless shower with rainmaker showerhead. But the feature is a beautiful carved wooden vanity imported from France with matching mirror.NEW LAMBTON$510,000Address: 142 Croudace Street.House: Weatherboard and iron on 1605 square metres.Agent: Lynette Allison, Home Central First National, 4969 2988 or 0411 203 163.Inspect: Saturday, 2pm-2.30pm.4 BEDROOMS2 BATHROOMS4 GARAGESCHEAPIES SNAPPED UP PAGE 60 New house, top suburb: don't miss Saturday Domain
